Hi
I’m Justin. I live in London and I’m an Australian expat in my mid twenties. I moved here to travel as much of Europe as I can and experience new places and cultures.
At the same time, I wanted to maintain and progress my career in IT, which left just the weekends to get into a city in Europe, see as much of it as I can, meet some new people, and then be back in time for work on Monday morning.
Here at 48 Hour Adventure, you’ll get a whirlwind run down of a city we’ve visited during a weekend. We write about the place we stayed at, where’s good for some food and what the big ticket items are worth checking out if you’ve only got 36-48 hours in town.
A few travel facts
- I once had to blag my way out of the Netherlands in Schipol airport without a boarding pass to avoid sleeping on the cold floor of the terminal. Only to come back into the Netherlands the next day and back out to fly home to London (this resulted in 3 stamps in one page of my passport, all on the same day).
- I’ve driven a VW Caravelle on an ice covered highway at 3am in the Arctic Circle. This whilst trying to watch the Northern Lights dancing through the sky above.
- Was stranded in Brussels on a Sunday night during a massive snowstorm that left multiple Eurostar trains crippled in the Channel Tunnel. Got the first flight to London the next morning for work, which turned out to be the only flight that managed to leave Brussels airport that day.
- Crossed the English Channel by Eurotunnel train and then came back on the ferry in the same weekend on a road trip to Amsterdam.
- I’ve been to lots of dance music rave parties in Holland.
- Eaten frogs legs in Empuriabrava, a town in the Catalonia region of Spain. Tastes like small bits of chicken.
- Flown on an Airbus A380 from London Heathrow to Paris Charles de Gaulle as part of Air France’s launch celebrations. The flight only lasted 1.5 hours.
- Crossed the Hungarian border and boarded a flight whilst drinking a can of beer.
Other Publications
I’ve done some guest posting and interviews on other blogs as well, you know, to share the love around. I also like writing about other travel topics that don’t fit in on 48 Hour Adventure.

Why the hell did you come ALL THE WAY here? on Camping in Heels.
Chloe is a spritely young lass from Adelaide, so by rights I should think she is anything but exciting. But turns out she’s a pretty cool bird, so I wrote some more expat musings for her blog.
Interview on Global Goose. I met Kelly at Travel Bloggers Unite in Manchester in March 2011. She’s a Canadian expat living with her bloke in Northern England. She’s done some serious travelling and has a fantastic writing style.
A jewel in The Old Town on the Flight Centre UK blog.
I visited Dubai in June 2011 during a stopover on a trip back to Australia. I stayed as a guest of a marvellous hotel called Al Manzil in the Old Town district, and this was the resulting review.
The Five Types of Travellers You’ll Meet in a European Hostel on Art of Backpacking.
After staying in loads and loads of hostels throughout Europe, I decided I could come up with something that created a snapshot of the clientele you’ll meet along the way.
Interview on Positive World Travel. Ant and Elise are fellow Aussies, traipsing about the globe. They produce some fantastic videos and try to make a difference to local life wherever they are.
